Wound Nurse | User Type

Purpose

This article describes the set up and function of the Wound Nurse user type for DocNow Wound Care practices. 

Audience

DocNow administrators and users. 

Overview

In DocNow the Wound Nurse user type allows practices to provide more robust documentation from their entire care team. 

This user type enables a nurse to:

• Create their own wound assessments.
• Sign their own notes for patients.
• The wound assessments can be used by providers within DocNow for their note documentation.

Admin Set Up 

1. Create a new user within the Users tab in the Admin Portal, choosing Wound Nurse as the user type.
   • Credentials may be free texted into the Title field.
2. Associate the Wound Nurse to a Provider, Facility, or Both.
   • Associating to a Provider allows the Wound Nurse and associated provider(s) to copy and view censuses from one another.
   • Associating to a Facility allows the Wound Nurse to access any patients at that facility. 
     
     
      
3. (Optional) Set up Wound Nurse specific templates through the Templates tab of the admin portal. Make sure any Templates created are associated to the facility the Wound Nurse will be servicing. 

Wound Nurse Workflow

The Wound Nurse workflow can be identical to the Provider workflow with the exception of drafting and submitting charges. 

1. (Mobile App or Web Portal) Create Census
2. (Mobile App or Web Portal) Add Patient to Census
3. (Mobile App) Add initial or follow up wound assessments for patients.
4. (Web Portal) Add initial or follow up wound assessments for patients.
5. (Web Portal) Create and sign notes for patients.
