What’s new in DocNow
New features, fixes, and improvements across your DocNow workspace.
Charge Capture
1Per-facility Point of Service defaults for charge capture
Each facility can now configure a default Point of Service (POS) code. The correct code is pre-selected during charge entry, reducing repetitive manual input for billing staff and providers.
Clinical Notes
5Native @dn dot phrases for note headers
Common clinical note section headers — such as HPI, Assessment, and Plan — can now be inserted via the @dn shorthand, reducing manual typing and speeding up note creation.
See in app
Typing a dot phrase prefix shows a list of pre-built section headers — select one to insert a formatted heading in a single keystroke
E-signature attestation on signed notes
After a provider signs a clinical note, both the note editor and the PDF export now display a clear attestation block showing the provider's drawn signature image, name, credential, and the exact time of signing. This fulfills documentation and compliance requirements automatically, with no extra steps required.
See in app
After signing, the attestation block shows the provider's name, credential, and exact timestamp — documentation and compliance requirements fulfilled automatically
Dynamic wound dot-phrases
Wound assessment sections now support an expanded, dynamically-generated set of dot-phrases that adapt to the current assessment type, enabling faster and more structured wound documentation.
"Unlock for free edit" on wound assessment sections
A new control on wound assessment pills lets providers unlock a locked section for free-form editing when a wound presentation falls outside the structured template options.
Clinical note audit trail
Every edit to a clinical note is now tracked — the note editor shows who made each change and when, giving providers and administrators a clear record of note history for compliance and accountability.
Patient Census
3POS and Care Type columns in the census, with LTC / Short-Term filter
The patient census now shows Point of Service and Care Type alongside each patient. A new filter lets staff instantly narrow the view to Long-Term Care or Short-Term Care populations.
Last Seen and Recurring Encounter columns in the open census
The open census now surfaces when each patient was last seen and whether they have recurring scheduled encounters, making it easier to prioritize outreach and spot care gaps at a glance.
Care Team census integration
Census entries are now linked to care teams, giving all team members a unified view of the census without duplicating entries. Ownership is clearly attributed to the team that created the session.
See in app
Care team censuses appear in the provider's list with a team badge — all team members share one unified view without duplicating entries
Patient Records
1Read-only ADT History timeline
Each patient chart now includes a timeline of Admission, Discharge, and Transfer events sourced directly from the connected EHR, so providers can review a patient's recent care history without leaving DocNow.
Wound Care
1Wound assessment report PDF download
Providers can now download wound assessment reports as PDFs directly from the patient chart, making it easy to generate printable documents for hand-offs, referrals, and care conferences.
Dashboard
1Dashboard reports and support-ticket surface
A new reporting area on the dashboard provides quick access to operational reports and a surface for submitting support tickets without leaving the app.
️ Admin
2DocSense access controls
The DocSense voice documentation feature can now be enabled or disabled at the facility level and toggled per individual user, enabling staged rollout and license management by administrators.
See in app
The DocSense voice documentation tab appears only for providers enabled by an administrator — granular access control without any app restart
Care Teams admin panel
Facility administrators now have a dedicated UI to create and manage Practitioners, Practitioner Roles, and Care Teams — no engineering support required.
️ UI & Experience
1Actions column help legend
Tables with an Actions column now include a ? icon that opens a brief legend explaining each available action, improving discoverability for new users.
Bug Fixes
4Encounter dates now reflect the facility's local timezone
Encounter dates and related timestamps were previously calculated in UTC, which could cause dates to appear off by one day for facilities in US time zones. They now correctly reflect the facility's configured timezone.
Census delete confirmation and open-session guard
Deleting a census session now requires explicit confirmation, and the system warns when the session is still open or has active entries — preventing accidental data loss.
Note editor: several small fixes from product reports
A set of minor issues in the clinical note editor — including display glitches and interaction problems reported by users — have been resolved.
Patient list: improved click target for row selection
The select column click area in the patient list has been expanded, and a fix prevents accidental row navigation when clicking the checkbox.
Improvements
2Improved note template editor layout
The note template editor now uses a section-first layout, giving template administrators a clearer overview of template structure and reducing setup errors.
Patient list MRN column and PCC source indicator
MRN values in the patient list are now displayed in a consistent, normalized format. Patients sourced from PointClickCare (PCC) show a PCC badge, making it immediately clear which EHR each patient record originates from.
