Add, Import, Copy, or Remove Patients

Build your daily patient roster by adding patients manually, importing directly from a connected EHR, or copying patients from another census. Patients already on the census are always flagged to prevent duplicates. Remove individuals or groups when a patient should no longer be included in the round.

Add patients to a census

Add patients manually

Click Add Patients and search by name or MRN to find a DocNow patient. Multi-select to add several at once when building a round from scratch. Patients already on the census are flagged so you will not add a duplicate.

Select patients from the Patients list and click Add to Census.

Import patients from the EHR

Search your connected EHR directly from the Add Patients window — no separate workflow or window required. Results appear in real time alongside DocNow search results. Patients already on the census are flagged in both views. EHR import is available only at facilities with an active EHR integration.

Select the target census when adding from the Patients list

When adding patients from the main Patients list, a Select Census window opens pre-set to today's active round. Switch to any other census or create one on the spot if the right round does not exist yet.

Copy patients from another census

Select patients in the census and use the bulk action to copy them to any other census. No need to re-search for each one individually. Useful when splitting a round mid-day, handing off to a covering provider, or duplicating a cohort across two concurrent rounds.

Select multiple patients using row checkboxes and choose Copy to Census from the bulk action toolbar. A Select Census window lets you pick the destination census or create a new one.

Remove patients from a census

Remove a patient

Open the row actions menu for any patient and select Remove. A confirmation screen shows the patient's name and medical record number before anything is removed. To remove several patients at once, select them using row checkboxes and choose Remove from the bulk action toolbar.
