Admin Portal | Configuring Specialties

Purpose

• Overview for specialty configuration in company settings. This feature allows admins to create, edit and delete specialties. 

Overview

The ability to configure multiple specialties within your DocNow EHR system is essential for medical practices that provide care across different specialties. This feature allows for a more customized, efficient, and compliant workflow tailored to the unique needs of each specialty. Below are the key purposes and benefits of this functionality:

• Different medical specialties could require specialized workflows, including custom templates and charge carry-over behavior.
• As a practice expands into multiple specialties, this feature allows for easy onboarding of new providers and staff into their appropriate workflows.

Steps to Configuring Specialties

1. Navigate to Welcome Banner (top right).

2. Select Settings, then Specialties screen.

3. New specialties can be added by the Admin. These specialties will display in a
dropdown menu within the Users>>Edit User screen in order to be associated
with a user.

Assigning a User to a Specialty

Once specialties are configured by an Administrator in DocNow, providers may be associated to one or more specialties.

1. Admins should navigate to the Admin Portal>>Users screen. Locate and click on the user to access the user profile.

2. Select one or more specialty from the Specialty dropdown then click Save.

Assigning a Specialty to a Note Template

1. Create a new template or edit an existing template via the Admin Portal>>Templates screen.

2. Assign a specialty using the Specialty dropdown and click Save. 

Note: Templates can only be assigned one specialty therefore if two specialties require the use of the same note template and copy of the note template should be created (one for each specialty)
