This article will provide information and guidance on configuring and using embedded electronic signatures for signing notes.

Overview
When the company permission is enabled a provider's signature and date of signing are added to a note at the time of signing. This feature replaces the need to use signature and date dot phrases within the note template.

Admin Set Up
First a DocNow team member must enable the company permission Show Signature Settings.
Navigate to your company settings to see the signature settings.
None: When this permission is enabled the Signature Settings will have no effect in note signing.
Enable Written and Electronically Signed Signature: When this permission is enabled the system will add both the written signature (plain text) and the electronically signed signature (cursive stylized) at the bottom of the note, including the timestamp (date and time) when the note was signed.
Enable Electronically Signed Signature: When this permission is enabled the system will add the electronically signed signature (cursive stylized) at the bottom of the note, including the timestamp (date and time) when the note was signed.
Provider Workflow
Providers must enable their electronic signature through their settings to give the system permission to include it in the signing of notes.
When a provider signs their note with while one of these settings are enabled their signature and the date & time of that signature will appear at the bottom of the note.
Considerations
- The date and time of the signature corresponds with the date and time that the provider selects the Sign button on their note and cannot be altered.
- For practices who were previously using a .signature@dn phrase in their note templates, these should be removed prior to using this feature to avoid duplication.
- Providers must enable their electronic signature through their settings to give the system permission to include it in the signing of notes.
