PointClickCare (PCC) will be requiring 3 legged-authentication at all facilities (Current deadline: Feb 1st, 2026). As a PCC preferred partner, and also your trusted EHR, we have a plan in place in order to aid this transition and avoid any disruptions to you and your providers. Below is some basic information about what’s happening and our expectations moving forward with this change.
What update is occurring in PCC?
PCC is requiring all providers to use 3 legged authentication in order to access facility information we provide via our integration.
Why is this happening?
In order to support PCC in their compliance and security efforts.
What is 3 legged authentication?
The 3-legged OAuth approach allows DocNow EHR to make API calls on behalf of a user that authenticates with their PointClickCare credentials. The user is limited to access only information their role and access privileges in PointClickCare allow them. This approach allows the operators of facilities using PointClickCare greater control over access to the data of the patients they are stewards of.
With the 3-legged OAuth approach, your application will obtain an access token by redirecting DocNow’s user to the PointClickCare login page and having them authorize DocNow to issue authenticated requests on their behalf.
What actions do Admins have to take?
DocNow is requiring that Administrators prep their teams and system configurations on or before Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 (3 days before the PCC deadline of May 15th). Ensure you have PCC accounts for all providers established by May 12th.
