PrevNote Phrases
Prevnote phrases are a special type of system phrase used primarily in note templates that allow the content under a specific Template Heading to be pulled forward to a subsequent note.
- Prevnote phrases are a type of system phrase and are found in the same list as other system phrases when editing a note template.
- View available system phrases by expanding the right window within the template editor and then using the arrows to navigate to System Defined Phrases.
- View available system phrases by expanding the right window within the template editor and then using the arrows to navigate to System Defined Phrases.
- Prevnote phrases always correspond with a specific Template Heading.
- You are not able to create your own prevnote phrases - only those available within the system will function correctly
- Prevnote phrases work by having the system look for all of the content between it's corresponding system heading and the next system heading.
- The second/next system heading is identified through bold text.
- For this reason, any text that is bolded either through a note template or by a provider writing a note will interfere with note content pulling forward if it is within a section that is being pulled forward.
-
Because prevnote phrases pull the last content from the corresponding header it is not recommended to include any other features such as free text, other phrases, text, or drop downs under the same heading you are using a prevnote phrase for.
- If you do use additional features at the same time as a prevnote phrase, information will begin to duplicate note to note.
Example:
In the first screenshot this will work well with no duplication:
In the screenshot other features are used in conjunction with prevnote phrases which will lead to duplication as note content is pulled forward:
Wound Phrases
Wound phrases are unique to the DocNow Wound Care platform and behave slightly differently than normal dot phrases.
Wound phrases are still primarily used in templates - for instance you may see the wound phrase .woundassessment_all@dn under the WOUND ASSESSMENT template header in a wound note.
- Wound phrases aggregate data from wound assessments and procedures that have been documented for a patient and resolve them in a templated format.
- Wound phrases are dynamic meaning that if any of the aggregated data that has been pulled into a note has changed after the phrase has resolved, the phrase will automatically update itself to indicate the change.
- Example: Note how the stage which was populated by the .woundassessment_all@dn phrase changes from 3 to 2 in accordance with the change in the wound menu.
- Example: Note how the stage which was populated by the .woundassessment_all@dn phrase changes from 3 to 2 in accordance with the change in the wound menu.
- Wound phrases by default are built with the _all@dn suffix (i.e. .woundassessment_all@dn) which will load all active wounds with a recent assessment when the phrase is resolved.
- When entering these phrases manually you may all choose individual wounds by using the wound number in the suffix (i.e. .woundassessment_1@dn) if you want to just resolve one of the wounds into a note.
- The template that influences which pieces of data from wound assessments and procedures are aggregated into the phrase can be configured by your Implementation Specialist or Account Manager.
