Dictation Now Populates Free-Text Fallback Dropdowns
Some note templates use dropdowns that have no selectable options and instead act as a free-text prompt, where the dropdown label (for example, Diagnosis Driving Therapy ***) provides ad hoc instructions to the provider. Previously, dictation extracted the relevant clinical information but did not fill in these fallback dropdowns, leaving them unresolved and blocking the note from being signed. DocSense now detects free-text fallback dropdowns and populates them with appropriate text based on the dropdown's instructions and the surrounding template context, clearing the instructional placeholder just as manual entry would. When no relevant dictated content is found, the dropdown is left unchanged and the note still requires manual completion before signing. Templates with multiple fallback dropdowns are evaluated independently.
Contextual Change and Drop Down Settings Removed
The Contextual Change and Drop Down settings have been removed from the DocSense user interface. These settings saw no active use during the DocSense Beta period, and the same outcome is now available through enhanced template configuration, which lets users exclude drop-down menus and boilerplate template text from DocSense processing directly.
Bug Fixes
Dot Phrases Now Expand During Per-Section Recording
Fixed an issue where a dot phrase inserted while recording within an individual section (for example, Physical Exam or Assessment & Plan) was inserted as raw spoken text instead of expanding. Dot phrase expansion previously worked only in main note-level recording, forcing users to switch back to main recording. Dot phrases now expand correctly during per-section recording.
Transcript Processing Issue
Fixed an issue where certain dictated notes stopped processing partway through (around 35–40%) and repeatedly restarted, never completing. Affected transcripts now process through to completion.
Per-Section Dictation No Longer Outputs Raw Speech-to-Text (#173 / DP-1094)
Fixed an issue where per-section dictation could output raw speech-to-text instead of processed note content. Per-section dictation now returns properly processed output.
