Purpose
- Outline Electronic Prescription (e-Rx) setup, a native integration between your DocNow EHR and ScriptSure, a premier e-prescription service and national pharmacy network.
Audience
- Administrators
Considerations
- 👩🏻💻Be ready to work with multiple vendors: DocNow, ScriptSure, and ID.me (Federal government's identify verification service)
- 🕒Allocate up to 4-weeks from start to go-live in order to accommodate delays, particularly if your clinicians have issues with their ID.me accounts. If all goes smoothly, this can be accomplished in under 1 week.
- To enable Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS), you must have at least one admin user in addition to the first provider to approve that provider for EPCS.
- If your company has practices in multiple states, or if you are a practice that has providers who prescribe in multiple states you will need to set up additional practices in ScriptSure. Please refer to ScriptSure's article on adding multiple DEA numbers.
- 🌏Any offshore staff need to use a VPN
* This article assumes your company has agreed to activate the DocNow EHR - ScriptSure integration API and pay the associated monthly per user fees.

-

- Contact your DN Implementation Specialist or Account Manager, who can help you begin the one time practice set up.

Admin approves Prescriber for EPCS
- Any Admin except for the prescriber being onboarded can approve, including non-clinical staff.
-
- This means for single-provider practices, the admin-provider will need to add at least one more admin user into the system to approve that provider for EPCS.
- This second admin user does not need to have a DocNow account. They could be a trusted family member or friend.
-
- When you see the below pop-up in your Admin ScriptSure Dashboards, you know one of your prescribers has requested approval:
-
Note: What will prevent prescribers from full script capabilities
-
- ECPS not approved by Admin
- Note: Certain states have extra strict rules around controlled substances
-
- For users in these states, they need to take these steps or submit ticket with ScriptSure
